Enterprise Ireland Medical and Engineering Technologies (MET) Gateway is an interdisciplinary applied research centre, dedicated to supporting Research, Development and Innovation activities in the MedTech, LifeSciences and Engineering sectors. Located in Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology’s Galway campus, the MET Technology Gateway provides open access for industry to the academic expertise within GMIT, generating solutions for close-to-market needs to companies.
Working within the Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Network of 16 specialised Gateways and sectoral clusters, this centre delivers innovation, expertise and solutions for Irish industry. The Applied IOT, Irish FoodTech and Engineering Materials and Design (EMD) clusters, comprises multiple gateways working together to provide specialist support and expertise. Operated in partnership with the Institutes of Technology and Technological Universities, these clusters offer access to the academic and technological expertise within each institute.
The Intelligent Mechatronics & RFID (IMaR) Technology Gateway, based in Munster Technological University Kerry, applies its core expertise in electronics, mechatronics, automation technologies, software, IoT, RFID and data analytics to address process and product innovation requirements of enterprises.
The Shannon Applied Biotechnology (ABC) Gateway is based on both the Munster Technological University Kerry and Limerick Institute of Technology campuses and is a leader in bioresource research – detection, identification, characterisation and valorisation – and collaborates with industry and other research centres in order to deliver this expertise in applied settings.
