The Irish Chapter of the European Organisation Design Forum (EODF) will be launched next Tuesday, 30th June, with an online event taking place from 9.30am to 11.30am.
The launch event will focus on the theme of ‘Designing for the future: What will new physical and virtual ways of working mean for organisation design?’.
The EODF is the representative body for organisation design professionals across Europe, and works to build and advance the community, practice and strategic role of organisation design. The establishment of the new EODF Chapter in Ireland is being spearheaded by Waterford native Ann Greene, founder of Allagi Limited, an organisation design and change consultancy.
A Niche Sector
Commenting in advance of next Tuesday’s launch, Ms. Greene – who will serve as Country Lead for the Irish Chapter of the EODF – said: “Organisation design is still a relatively misunderstood discipline, often viewed in narrow terms as being purely about structure and organisation charts.
“However, organisation design is about much more than just structure – it’s about taking a systemic and holistic approach to how all the different parts of an organisation are aligned and fit together, in order for that organisation to achieve its goals. It incorporates all elements of the operating model, including structure, process, information systems and locations, and is closely linked with leadership, performance management, rewards and workplace behaviour.
“In a world that is slowly emerging and recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic, organisation design has never been more relevant. As a society, we are questioning how we work, and looking at opportunities for more flexible ways of working and better work / life balance. Organisations have had to adapt their processes, practices and even their strategies to respond to the consequences of this crisis. Technology and information systems have become more crucial than ever. Supply chains, manufacturing processes and the locations where work is done have changed, all of which may have both positive and negative implications for Ireland-based organisations and employees. Workplaces will need to be redesigned and repurposed in response to Covid-19, and organisation design can help achieve this.”
Launch Event Details
The launch of the EODF Irish Chapter next Tuesday is open to organisation design practitioners and anyone with an interest in organisation design to attend, free of charge, and participate in a lively discussion.
During the event, Ann Greene will give an overview of the aims of the Irish Chapter and how it will work. This will be followed by guest inputs from Thomas Döring, a board member of the Organization Design Institute and the German Country Lead for the EODF; and Fergal O’Brien, Director of Policy and Public Affairs with Ibec. Attendees will then be invited to participate in ‘café-style’ breakout discussions exploring workplace flexibility, risk, compliance, and health and safety.
Commenting on her motivation for establishing the Irish Chapter of the EODF, Ann Greene said: “Over many years working in organisation design, I came to realise that in-house organisation design practitioners in Ireland have no dedicated forum where they can meet as peers to share knowledge and experience and to discuss and solve complex problems.
“Organisation design practitioners reside in diverse business areas and – in establishing this country Chapter – I want to find them, bring them together and raise the standard of this complex discipline in a safe, equal and non-sales space. As the Chapter develops, EODF Ireland will host regular virtual and in-person community events and organisation design masterclasses for people who want to learn about the different aspects of organisation design and how to apply it.”

Ms. Greene founded Allagi 15 years ago, and recently became the first person in Ireland – and one of fewer than 50 people globally – to receive the title of ‘Certified Organization Design Professional’. The certification programme is developed and managed jointly by the Organizational Design Community, Organization Design Forum, and the EODF. Certified professionals are verified as having met a set of criteria in both education and practice over a two-year period.
