The Irish Business Design Challenge Awards will take place virtually on 8th December 2021 at 7pm.
Irish Business Design Challenge Awards
The Irish Business Design Challenge is an initiative of Design & Crafts Council Ireland in partnership with Enterprise Ireland and the Local Enterprise Offices, supported by the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment .
Increasingly design is being used across all sectors and is adding significant value to the Irish economy. This competition aims to highlight best practice examples of design in Micro, Small and Medium enterprises across Ireland. The purpose of the Irish Business Design Challenge is to identify these businesses and highlight their innovations.
The overall prize fund is over €50,000. The winner of each category will receive €15,000 and €2,000 will be awarded to the runner-up in each category.
The Irish Business Design Challenge is open to:
Micro-sized enterprises (1 – 10 employees)
Small-sized enterprises (11 – 50 employees)
Medium-sized enterprises (51 – 250 employees)
MEET LAST YEAR’S WINNERS
Home By Notions
Winner: Micro Business Category 2020. Jamie Maguire, founder of Home By Notions, developed foldable desks that come in just two parts and fit together in just 30 seconds.
Bensons Workwear
Winner: Small Business Category 2020. The Irish manufacturer and supplier of clothing worked with the HSE to design a surgical gown suitable for the needs of busy hospitals in Ireland.
The Gourmet Tart Company
Winner: Medium Business Category. Restaurant owners, Michelle and Fintan Hyland, turned their closed restaurant into a hamper workshop, developing and packaging hampers daily.
